Turning a Hole into a Valley

Posted: September 15, 2011 in Uncategorized

“Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.” Psalm 23

The difference in a valley and a hole is essentially the fact that there is not only an opening to get in, but an opening to get out. The Bible says the wages of sin is death. Romans teaches that we are born spiritually dead because of an inheritance from Adam. Jesus told Nicodemus we have to be born again. The Book of Revelation teaches there is a 2nd death, which is eternal.

So if we are born once (physically), we are born dead (spiritually). If we are born again (spiritually) by receiving Christ, then we will only die once, (physically). But if we never receive Christ, then we will die twice (physically and spiritually). So born once, die twice. Born twice, die once.

Jesus died on the cross. He faced real death for us and gave us the opportunity to walk through the valley of only the shadow of death, not the real thing. But the Bible teaches that we must repent of our sins and surrender fully to the Lord Jesus Christ. Shadows are not real. They are cast by the real thing. What about you? Will you walk into the dark hole of death, or through the valley of the shadow of death into the light of eternal life. Only through Jesus.
