Unleashing JOY!!! (I’m trading my sorrow, I trading my pain….)

Posted: November 1, 2011 in Uncategorized

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die;… a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance…” (Eccles. 3)

Several weeks ago, we inaugurated a paradigm shift in church. As a congregation we chose to be, “Church Unleashed @ Beulah.” With that comes the pain of change. All change is painful. Only when we can see the benefits of the change will we endure that pain. Not everyone can envision the positive results. Not everyone is visionary. Call it whatever we will, some want to cling to the comfort of days gone by. As one person wrote to me by email and said, “Our church will never be the same.” They saw that as a negative. But many see it as a positive as we seek to embrace God’s future.

Some cannot make the journey into this Promised Land of God’s bright future. For them I have mourned for several weeks. Some have been afraid and discouraged, and for them I have wept. Some have spread untruths and lies, and for them I have prayed with a broken heart. For all who are left behind, I have wept, and prayed, and mourned.

But while weeping may linger for the night, joy comes with the morning. (Ps. 30). God has promised the best days. He has called us to “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old; Behold I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:18-19).

We embrace and cherish our heritage. That is why we are doing ministry @Beulah. But we welcome our future: Church Unleashed. We invite the “Unchurched Believers” in our community to come and join us. See what is new and good in God’s plan; experience the difference. To those who are not yet believers, come and explore questions of faith where you are safe and welcome. For those who are hesitant to change, but curious, come and try it before you decide.

We are asking God to be God. We are seeking to take the lids off of the “mental boxes” we have tried in the past to squeeze God into. We are praying that God will unleash His Spirit in our church and community as He did in Acts 2. Join us for God’s grace experience.

Not religion but relationship. Not rules, but blessings of obedience. Not happiness only, but real joy. Church Unleashed is Unleashing Joy, Peace, Love. God bless you.
My heart will long for those who do not come along with us, but I am trading my sorrow for God’s joy. I am turning grief of human disappointments into celebration of God’s goodness.
