The Harvest is Ripe

Jesus said, “Do you not say there are yet four months and then comes the harvest? Behold I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.” (John 4:35)

When we are not ignoring the harvest altogether, it seems the post modern church is acting as though we had all the time in the world to gather the harvest. “Do you not say, there are yet four months . . .” And yet there are over 1.7 billion people that have never even heard that there is a Savior, that there is truly hope. These people comprising some 3100 people groups of our world have absolutely no access to the Good News of Jesus.

I have often heard Tom Elliff, President of the IMB say, “It is not Good News if it doesn’t get there in time.” Jesus said, “The harvest is white.” NOW. In every place, even the difficult places, there is a harvest to be gathered.

And it is not a meager harvest. Jesus said in Luke 10:2, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” The harvest is abundant. There are many people that God has prepared their hearts already to receive the Gospel. We are to pray to the Lord of the harvest, “Send laborers.” And we are to hear that Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”

We cannot sleep. We cannot wait. We cannot grow weary. We cannot pretend that it doesn’t matter. Will you pray, “Lord, here am I, send me.”

My Utmost For His Highest April 24th
…our work as His disciples is to disciple others’ lives until they are totally yielded to God. One life totally devoted to God is of more value to Him than one hundred lives which have been simply awakened by His Spirit. As workers for God, we must reproduce our own kind spiritually, and those lives will be God’s testimony to us as His workers.
